School safety officers (who work for the NYPD but are supervised by school principals) are charged with maintaining order in city schools. What is your experience? (To comment, click here.)

I think there should be even more officers; discipline is critical to academic rigor.
I'm glad they're there; my kids are safer and the school is more secure with a uniformed officer present.
I understand why they are needed, although I wish that maintaining order didn’t require law-enforcement in the building.
I don’t think officers should have a presence in schools; many are argumentative, confrontational, or worse, and their presence 'criminalizes' the classroom.
